Panto time? Oh no it isn't!

Oh yes it is!
It's a long time now since so many of us came together to put on our first two pantomimes, Cinderella and Dick Whittington. The shows amazed everyone and we sold out 6 shows, raising over 10000€! So many people have asked when we will be doing it again (well, Nick Jones mostly).
Well, this might be the first step in that road. If we are to stage another show for February 2018 now is when we have to start. A great many of our talented cast have moved on, including both of our cross-dressing stars and my assistant directors and musical director. We do still have a great wealth of talent available, but I'm hoping that this call to arms might find a few more. This is a huge undertaking, but massively rewarding. This is only the first step, and we may even find we've lost too many people to proceed, but I'd hate to die not knowing!

Volunteering to appear in the panto is a huge commitment. You'll need to attend rehearsals every Friday night from September onwards. Come December and January it will be at least twice a week (normally Friday and Sunday) and at the end of January you can write off most evenings. It can be a real strain on marriages and family life!
Producing the artwork and props takes a lot of work, normally in cold buildings in the winter months. It's not for those with a weak disposition! We will try and reuse as much of last years scenery as we can, especially as we've also lost our production designer!
Working backstage means being heavily involved in the last month or so, being available to attend rehearsals and practices etc. We will also need help on the nights of the production behind the bar and at the door etc.
If you think that you can commit the time then we'd love you to get involved. I cannot guarantee a role for everyone, and obviously not everyone can have a major role. But I can guarantee that if you do get involved that you will meet new friends as well as old ones, and you will share an experience that will never be forgotten. Click here for the volunteer form.
