Sarkozy targets Expat retirees

Posted by: webmaster on Wednesday September 05, 2007 (14:32:23)
President Sarkozy has announced that he is to end free health care for expat retirees living in France. His aim is to target those who have retired 'early', that is under the age of 65, from benefitting from free care, when others are expected to pay.    more ...

Posted by: webmaster on Tuesday September 04, 2007 (18:55:10)
Despite fielding a depleted side due to injuries and holidays Chantilly Cricket Club gave another good account of themselves on Saturday 25th August against a strong touring side from the U.K, the Nomads.

CCC vs Pakistani XI - 22nd July 2007 (version 2)

Posted by: webmaster on Saturday September 01, 2007 (00:57:53)
CCC win something!
Expecting as we were to play against the Hurlingham – a posh west end club – it was with no little surprise that CCC encountered lots of French-speaking Pakistanis, who, it turned out, belonged to the Pakistani Embassy in Paris. The news was accepted in stoic fashion despite the fearsome demeanour of the opposition. Indeed, when the Pakistani ambassador – a lady two years short of retirement – stylishly tossed the opening ball straight down the wicket, CCC tried to recruit her into the team, but to no avail. It turned out that she had witnessed her polo team being beaten by a Great Britain team 7-6 earlier in the day, and was in no mood to give CCC an easy game. It is worth noting that this was by far the best supported game that CCC has been involved in, with many Embassy staff in attendance and a good smattering of Cantiliens.

CCC vs Pakistani XI - 22nd July 2007

Posted by: webmaster on Saturday September 01, 2007 (00:51:59)
CCC vs Pakistani XI
In front of a large crowd including Her Excellency the Ambassador for Pakistan, Ms Asma ANISA, Mr Patrick Guerrand-Hermes and the director of French Cricket, David Bordes, this closely fought game saw CCC come of age on the playing field.

Although greatly helped by reinforcements from our friends at St Brice (CCSB95), it was the CCC players who performed so well against an opposing team that was announced as a middle strength team of Pakistanis from England but in fact was itself reinforced by several French based criketers some of whom are currently the best players in the French Super League.

The Pakistani XI won by 8 runs. They were all out for 131 after 23.1 overs and CCC were 123 for 8 after their allotted 25 overs.

CCC vs Conservative Party - 30th June 2007

Posted by: webmaster on Saturday September 01, 2007 (00:40:13)
As the end of June approached any hopes of seeing summer seemed to be fading into the waterlogged pitch - the day of our latest match dawning as so many days before it overcast and damp, with rain forecast on and off all day. Our opponents for this latest saga in the club's fledgling history were to be The Conservative Party from the UK, refreshed and recharged following the ending of the reign of Tony Blair, PM.

CCC v. British Embassy - 10th June 2007

Posted by: webmaster on Saturday September 01, 2007 (00:32:33)
Smarting from defeat in their first match Chantilly Cricket Club took to the field at Apremont on a bright, sunny afternoon. It was kind of the Polo club to lay on a great afternoon show of matches just in case the cricketing action failed to stimulate.

CCC vs BBC Radio 4 Political Unit - 26th May 2007

Posted by: webmaster on Saturday September 01, 2007 (00:09:48)
The two teams
Sunday May 26th saw the visiting BBC Radio 4 Political Unit Cricket team be the first team to visit and play the Chantilly Cricket Club's 'duffers' team of ageing expats and keen young cricket players. The weather forecast had not offered much hope of getting a game with showers forecast but as usual this proved to be somewhat wide of the mark. Although overcast the afternoon began with some perfect weather for cricket, and a glorious setting amongst the polo fields of Apremont.
